Lindsay Mathews, Ph.D.

I am a New York State licensed clinical psychologist based in Brooklyn, with over 15 years of experience. I am currently a candidate in the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

I began my career working with people facing serious mental illness, personality disorders, and histories of legal involvement, across outpatient, inpatient, and correctional settings. I have particular expertise with emotion dysregulation, trauma, and career or life-transition stress, and I work with adolescents, young adults, and older adults.

My approach is collaborative and individualized. We slow down to understand current stressors as well as deeper patterns, and when helpful, we develop coping skills tailored to your needs. I work especially well with people who want deeper work even while managing distress—those who sense something is “off” and want a clearer path back to themselves.

I have worked with Mount Sinai employees and families for many years and understand the unique issues that they and their families may face. I can help with stress, relationship concerns, and other personal challenges, whether or not they are tied to the health system.
